to ask the other guys? - Does that other company guarantee to locate a Pipe Leak for 1 flat fee - will not charge you if they can't find it? - that's our policy that we have been employing for Long Islanders for many yrs. WARNING - We will try to save you $.
We will not charge you if we can't find your pipe Leak -EVER! and we don't charge Hourly - its 1 flat rate to find 1 pipe Leak - no surprises when it comes to the bill. Its upfront pricing.
WE will find the exact location of a buried pipe Leak 90%++ of the time - If we can't we will not bill U.
Our Competitors on Long Island, in many cases can only or will only tell you what line is Leaking. WHY?
Because while the avg. pressure test (the easy part) might take less than 1 hr., generally the 2nd part of the process (the pipe Leak pinpoint part could take much longer). That's why the Avg. Long Island pool co. does not want to spend any great length of time hunting for the underground Leak, like we would be willing to do
What's the preferred method by the "other guys" here on Long Island?
Repipe --> it's a big revenue booster
If you just want to replace your plumbing line, the other Company's method might be fine. However if you are interested in reducing costs, limiting area of the replacement or repair or keeping patio disturbance to a minimum, you might want to go with our method of precisely locating the buried Leak.
Exceptions Of why u might not want to spend the time locating the hidden pipe Leak (and just repipe)?
Multiple pipe Leaks could lead to problems in which we eventually realize, your pool/you would have been better off repiping - at least that part of the pool (say a Skimmer or return line re-pipe etc.). Re-pipes happen in some rare cases. Even to be conservative, we would say definitely no more than 25% of the time it would make sense to repipe.
Typically - to pressure test the average Pool with 2 skimmers & 2 return jets and find 1 pipe Leak (GUARANTEED) is $425 + tax - It typically takes 2-3 hours (but could
be 1-6 hrs.)
Additional Charges u might incur:
If distance from equip. to pool 50+ ft. Extra Skimmers, Returns, Polaris, Solar, Waterfall (In many cases waterfalls/sheer descents are not testable) Multiple
Leaks - say 1 Leak on the skimmer line & 1 Leak on the return line. Main drain lines typically are handled by a diver (unless pool is empty)
NOTE: IF YOU JUST WANT A SIMPLE PRESSURE TEST ( that is we are not needed to
pinpoint the Leak) THE CHARGES WILL BE LESS.
Is Our Equipment &
We have some of the best electronic sound detection equipment available. We have Helium Detectors - which are not cheap and neither is the tracer gas (helium) to look for the Leak, but sometimes it's the only method we can use. Some special pipe plugs we purchased, other plugs we made. Other special equipment we made tailored to aid in precisely and accurately locating the pipe Leak. Did we mention way over 20 Yrs. in Leak business, with thousands of Leaks found for Long Islands Pools.
